General Counsel, Community Hospital Corporation, Plano, Texas, July 2006 - Present: As the chief legal officer for this nine non-proift hospital system, I am responsible for numerous legal matters affecting a multi hospital system engaged in nonprofit and for profit activities. My responsibilities included providing advice to the corporate board of directors and management, and providing general legal services to corporate office and each of the hospitals within the system. I oversee the Office of Geneal Counsel which, thourhg its staff of three attorneys, provides a braod range of non-litigation legal services a to the hospitals in the system including projects involving physician joint ventures, physician contracts, medical legal/patient care issues, medical staff relations, risk management, anti trust, managed care contracts, federal and state regulations, tax-exemtpt status, labor law, and professional liability.; Of Counsel, Brin & Brin, Inc., San Antonio, Texas, March 2004-Present: The firm’s health care practice involves respresenting various types of health care providers including hospitals (non-profit and proprietary), physicians, group practices, health care joint ventures, academic institutions, research organizations, and various types of health care professionals. My responsibilities included providing advice to the corporate board of directors and management, maintaining corporate documents, and providing general legal services to corporate office. As General Counsel, I provided general representation to the hospitals in the system upon request by the hospital including projects involving physician contracts, medical legal/patient care issues, medical staff relations, risk management, anti trust, managed care contracts, federal and state regulations, nonprofit status, labor law, joint ventures and professional liability. I also acted as general counsel to a 1,000 bed, three hospital, mini system within the Incarnate Word Health System, including working with outside counsel for the hospitals.; Assitant General Council, Baylor Health Care System, Dallas, Texas, March 1983 - January 1987: The Assistant General Counsel's responsibilities included providing legal services to this multi hospital system through a two attorney legal department.
