Experience

Ms. Massey handled products liability, commercial and insurance coverage matters on both sides of the docket, in both state and federal forums for 11 years prior to taking the bench in 2003. She presided over the 288<sup>th</sup> District Court from 2003 to September 2008 when she resigned to resume private practice. She is currently a shareholder of Ford & Massey, P.C., a firm specializing in commercial and appellate litigation and complex family law matters. While serving as a District Judge, Ms. Massey handled everything from child abuse to multi-million dollar commercial litigation and also co-chaired the Children’s Court and Family Drug Court. She served on the Steering Committee for the Bexar County Integrated Justice System and on the Bexar County Juvenile Board. As a judge, Ms. Massey presided over numerous complex, multi-week jury trials while managing to maintain one of the lowest reversal rates in Bexar County.

Specifically, she presided over: an 8 week pharmaceutical defect case, a 4 week tire defect case, a 4 week automobile defect case, a commercial dispute involving an Enron Subsidiary and Ken Lay’s estate, the $26 billion dispute over the sale of Clear Channel Communications, 3000+ family law hearings (temporary orders/final trials).

In private practice, she has participated in such matters as: represented major automobile manufacturer as part of appellate team that obtained reversal of $65 million judgment represented major hotel chain and obtained reversal of $6 million default judgment, represented major energy company in $40 million insurance coverage dispute.

In 2003, the year Ms. Massey was appointed to the bench, she was named by Texas Monthly as a “Super Lawyer.” She’s been named a “40 under Forty” by the San Antonio Business Journal, a “Woman of Excellence” by the San Antonio Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and has received the President’s Award from the San Antonio Bar Association and the Angel Award from Any Baby Can. She has been published in the <u>Texas Review of Litigation</u>, DRI’s <u>For The Defense</u>, and the <u>State Bar Bulletin</u> and has presented at numerous CLE seminars around the country.

Rates

$2000 per day for arbitrations; $900 per side for full day mediations with an additional charge of $300 per hour past 5:00pm.
